Protecting your paintwork
Ceramic Coating Paint Protection
At our car detailing studio, the majority of services are offered with the addition of a ceramic coating for your vehicle.
As with any car detailing process, it’s not an easy task, and frankly, if you don’t know how to apply it, I would recommend visiting a professional. A professional detailer will also use professional ceramic coatings that aren’t available for public purchase or use. They offer superior paint protection to those that can be brought “off the shelf”.
The point of applying a coating to your vehicle is to protect the paintwork from harmful substances, and environmental hazards, and to offer greater scratch resistance. Ceramic coatings also have the added benefit of making your car much easier to clean.
It’s an essential aspect of vehicle detailing as a whole and works in unison with paint correction and paint enhancement services; protecting your paintwork and keeping it as glossy as possible. This will provide you with a much better level of paint protection than any wax or sealant.
Long Lasting Barrier
Depending on what result you are chasing you must be realistic with your expectations. Unfortunately, a ceramic coating isn’t a protective and invulnerable barrier, you will still need to look after your vehicle and care for it correctly.
You may have read up on the competing reviews and testimonials online, those who swear by the product, and those who despise it, but you’ll often find the people who do kick it to the kerb have either applied the product incorrectly or are trying to promote alternative services.
There’s no doubt in the detailing industry how much protection ceramic coating can add to your vehicle.
Up to 5 years ceramic coating to protect against, and limit the number of scratches and swirl marks on your car.
Includes an interior valet to protect your leather & fabric against accidental spillages.

What is a Ceramic Coating?
A ceramic coating (also known as Nano-Ceramic Coating) is a liquid polymer vehicle detailing product that is applied to protect the exterior paintwork. Ceramic coating for cars is applied by hand and consists of silica and titanium dioxide to form a hydrophobic bond; creating a layer of protection.
The chemical bond protects your paintwork from environmental hazards and common defects, such as grime, bird droppings and sun rays.
A ceramic coating will provide a much tougher layer of protection than its alternatives, wax and sealants. The bond created will be semi-permanent and can last from 12 months to 7 years.
This nanotechnology-created bond is easiest to understand if you think of it as an extra rock-hard layer of armour over your car’s paintwork.
The hydrophobic properties leave your car repellent to water and other liquids, creating a slippy surface that rain will just slide off. Hence its alternate name – Nano-Ceramic.
Why do I need a Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating will create a covalent bond over your vehicle’s paintwork, protecting it from harmful substances and environmental hazards. It also increases the resistance to your paintwork with the added benefit of leaving your vehicle much easier to clean.
You need a ceramic car coating to ensure your paintwork stays intact and is protected from scratches and harmful substances, in some cases (depending on the product used) for up to 7 years.
Without properly maintaining your vehicle, it is often left with paint defects and light scratches, that leave your paintwork looking a little dull. A coating of ceramic will ensure your vehicle is protected in order to keep those high gloss levels on your exterior.
As we mentioned, it’s also incredibly helpful when it comes to looking after your vehicle, reducing the effort needed to keep it clean.

How to maintain ceramic coating
In order for your ceramic coating to last as long as possible, you will need to make sure you look after your car and its paintwork on a regular basis. There are a few steps in regard to maintaining your ceramic coating.
- Do not wash your vehicle in direct sunlight.
- Use a PH-neutral car shampoo
- Wash your car using the two-bucket method
- Use higher-quality supplies and separate them for your wheels and tires.
In addition to these steps, as mentioned, you will need to wash your vehicle on a regular basis. Best practice is to wash your car every 2 weeks utilizing the tips above. This can help prevent the build-up of environmental contaminants such as dust.
How much does ceramic coating cost?
Depending on the size of your vehicle, make and model, and delicacy of the paintwork, the price could differ. At our studio, the ceramic coating price starts from £299 for small cars. This includes preparing your car beforehand with a single-stage machine polish.
How does ceramic coating work?
Ceramic coating is a chemical polymer solution that bonds with your car's paintwork to prevent and protect it against contaminants, oxidization, scratches and more. A ceramic coating will also apply a hydrophobic layer to your vehicle so that it is able to repel water. Once the polymer has bonded with your paintwork, it will protect the clear coat underneath. If your vehicle picks up any dust or other residue, it can be easily removed through a proper wash.
What is the downside to ceramic coating?
Typically, there isn't much downside to a ceramic coating. The only noteworthy disadvantage is the cost of installation and application, as it will need to be applied by a professional detailer. Whilst a ceramic coating does protect your cars paintwork against various defects, it can't protect it against everything, though, nothing can do it better.
Is ceramic coating good for new car?
Typically, a new car is detailed, or valeted, by amateurs at the dealership. This causes a number of defects to the paintwork that are clearly visible under halogen lights. Therefore, a new car would usually require a thorough snow foam wash and a single-stage polish before the ceramic coating is applied. This will ensure any defects are removed and aren't trapped under its coating; producing the highest-quality finish possible.
How to remove ceramic coating
You can remove a car ceramic coating by using a machine polisher to expose the layer of clear coat underneath. This is the best, and the only way to remove a ceramic coating completely and safely.
You may need to remove a ceramic coating if a previous application has failed, wear and deterioration are showing, or a cheap product has been used. Once the coating is removed, we can begin to apply a fresh new layer that can last up to 5 years.
Is ceramic car coating worth it?
Ceramic car coating is absolutely worth it if you take pride in caring for your vehicle. The process will provide high protection against contaminants, swirl marks, and light scratches ensuring your paintwork stays in great condition for a longer period of time, protecting the layer beneath the ceramic.
Benefits of ceramic coating
Protection from oxidization
Ceramic coating for cars can protect your vehicle against oxidation and chemical stains. Acidic contaminants in the air can cause damage to your vehicle’s paintwork over time. A ceramic coating will prevent these airborne contaminants from bonding to your paint.
Gloss Finish
Once your car has been detailed, a ceramic coating will be applied to your paintwork. In addition to the numerous protection benefits, it will also give your vehicle a high-quality glossy finish; more so than any paint protection film can offer. Producing a finish better than when the car was made.
Protection from UV rays
Believe it or not, the UV rays from the sun can actually damage your paintwork. The effect from such is usually wearing and a faded look of your vehicle. A ceramic coating will protect your exterior paint from these UV rays and again, from oxidation; leaving your vehicle looking stunning for longer.
Produces a hydrophobic Layer
A ceramic coating will apply a hydrophobic layer to your paintwork so water will slide right off. It also repels dirt and grime that your car may pick up, so a quick (proper) wash will remove any surface dirt instantly.
It's cost effective
Once your car has a ceramic coating applied, you will no longer need to wax that paintwork. This can save you a lot of money in the long run; especially when you consider the other benefits that come with it.
Ceramic Coating Cost
The cost of applying our 5-year ceramic coating will depend on a number of factors, such as the make and model of your vehicle, the size of it, and the condition of the paintwork. Your car will also need to be prepared beforehand, which means a single-stage machine polishing. For small cars, our ceramic coating starts from £299.
